East Halls is the largest residence hall complex on campus, with the 14 coed traditional residence halls. This hall is considered primarily as housing for first-year students, who share double rooms with one roommate. In the center of the East Halls complex is the Findlay/Johnston Commons Building complete with a commons desk (where students are able to check in and retrieve their mail, a computer lab, and a dining area with several food service facilities. A benefit of being in East halls is the factor of being surrounded by first years who share similar experiences and feelings heading into their college life, as well as the short walking distance to Bryce Jordan Center, Beaver Stadium, intramural fields, IM building and the Creamery (ice cream place – a must see for first years).
-
West Halls is located on the north-western side of campus, a short walking distance to Willard building and Patee/Paterno Library. Room accommodations in this residential area include regular double, small double, and triple rooms. Waring Commons is the main building in West Halls area and includes a commons desk, computer lab, and convenience store Sisu that sells coffee and fresh bagels in the morning. During lunch and dinner times, hungry students visit the West Food District, which offers the Waring Square food court (buffet style) and the West Wing (a la carte sandwiches, subs, salads, sushi, and desserts).
